If you are wondering what's going on, this is a video of me using an LUA plugin called Music Pulsewave on FCEUX, a professional NES emulator. It allows you to see the 4 sound channels used in an NES game, and also keeps score on how well you can tap A to the beat overall. I play Journey to Silius, trying to get a high score without breaking it. I guess that should be it..? Well.. Enjoy! :D

  • correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't the NES have 8 channels?

  • 4 Channels; 6 if you add an expansion to it. The SNES has 8 channels.

it was 8 bit but still the music was awesome

i mean look at megaman , blastermaster, Even Fester´s quest , batman and many ohters nearly 90% of the nes games had incredible music soundtracks thnks to that expansion

  • its cuts the music off right before the best part...weak

Actually, it depends which expansion you use. By default, it has five (two squarewaves, the triangle wave, and the noise wave, along with the Delta PCM channel), but depending on which expansion chip you use, you can get eight extra channels.

If you happen to be extra skilled, however (or just insane), you can get a maximum of TWENTY-SEVEN channels, counting the default 5 channels and the channels of all known expansion chips. :D

  • I had this game. But the main character on that game was not an boy, but an robot-like dude. Looks like Megaman some kinda. On the intro, it shows him as human, but not when playing. Why`s that? I know this game were actually supposed to be an terminator game.

  • funny how a game with only levels took me longer to beat thaqn any zelda or final fantasy game haha

  • thats a sweet song but the poster had the music interrupted right before the most kick ass part of the song.

  • I still love this game
