Maybe take a look at Chris Cutler or Tony Oxley's drumming on youtube.

Come see Tim Berne/Nels Cline/Jim Black on 10/3 at the Angel City Jazz Festival on 10/3 at the Ford Amphitheater in LA.

I agree entirely... Actually I'd like a bit more experimentalist sounds in Wilco... The last couple albums have been a bit more direct than I would like for a band with such immense musical talent.

Listen people, Wilco is a GREAT rock band, but you start throwing wonderful stuff like this into their music and they'll start losing audience. Sad fact of life - not a lot of folks are into great edgy music like this.
Tweedy isn't a fool, and neither are these two - it's a great cash source in a not horrible environment that lets two sonic scientists such as these have the resources to do whatever they want, and they can up the bar within Wilco in their sleep. Everybody wins.

Because it's subtle and in the pocket and Glenn always says that the most important thing he plays to is Jeff's lyrics.

it's a gibson melody maker. with a double cutaway.

wow.. Nels is like a Mad Scientist of Audio..CRaaaazzy stuff... I do appreciate his adventurousness and risk-taking.

Kotche joined Wilco after those songs had been recorded and released. Watch live versions of them and see the energy he interjects.
true but being able to funk around with effects like that, takes much more than it seems, you cant just DO that

For anyone curious, most of the music Glenn Kotche is playing on drums after a couple of minutes is on his solo album "Mobile". A lot of tribal drumming influences. If you liked this video you'll probably like the CD.
