eBay checkout speed bump and PayPal fail

eBay checkout hits a "speed bump", and doesn't let customers pay our sellers. I am going to boycott eBay and PayPal until they formally resolve this issue.

Speaking as a seller, do not ship until you have the funds in your account. As a buyer, don't pay twice. Check your PayPal account if the amount was sent or not. Check BillMeLater if applicable.

There is a workaround, where we can send or receive payment directly just using one's email address, so request that from your eBay counterpart. Make sure to reference your eBay listing #. An eBay invoice will have the same "speed bump" faulting out, so use PayPal instead of eBay invoice, to avoid the "speed bump."

According to PayPal and eBay this has to do with a security messup in their system. Some people in the eBay forums have reported that this fixes itself after several days of waiting. But such a delay seems highly unwarranted. It makes me never want to use eBay again.

Hi all, looks like it's better now. I tested with some very inexpensive purchases, (things I wanted too.) Maybe PayPal and eBay fixed their issues.

To help sum up some research I did, here's some possible explanations. Random security check (or foul-up in our cases.) Erroneous Multi-system completion (my guess.) eBay blames PayPal, PayPal blames eBay, credit-card companies confused, seller and buyers annoyed and hopefully not taking it out on each other.

i cant pay now for two weeks.. i tell sellers to send me paypal addres to pay them and thet can take a time.. i like to pay imidietly, not to wait few days.. :(

i do not know how to contact ebay directly by mail or chat to ask them.

if any one have answer how to fix this please write...

@KKZG The funny thing is that in my order details, they said payment has been submitted and being sorted out by the seller. It's so scary because I did the payment 5 times and I really hope that all 5 didn't go through. I've sent a message to the seller who has yet to reply. For now, I'm really worried and I don't know what to do. HELP!

OMG I have the same problem so good to know that I'm not alone. I bought an item and my deadline was 2pm today so I woke early morning 8am and tried to make the payment through Credit Card Visa and I hit the speed bump. I kept trying again and again at least 5 times, it was the same. Suddenly my phone received a message from the credit card company saying I've purchased something but eBay is telling I haven't made payment. After 2pm they opened a case against me of an unpaid item.
