hieronymous - bass, bass pedals
Greg DeGuglielmo - drums

I was having trouble responding to comments for a while, and a few people asked about the bass pedals used in the video. It is not a Moog Taurus, as noted by someone else it's the Roland PK-5 MIDI pedals controlling a Moog Little Phatty.

For a long time, I dreamed of owning a set of Taurus bass pedals, but it never happened. For a while I had a Rogue, and recorded a piece called "Taurus VI" where I played it with my right hand in between picking phrases on a 6-string bass. It was more of a musical approach than the actual use of a Taurus. Sorry for any confusion!

  • where you you hook the pedals up to? and amp or something? i know nothing about synths

  • Yes, the Roland pedals need to be hooked up to a synth via MIDI - I used a Moog Little Phatty but you could hook them up to any MIDI synth. The new Moog Taurus 3 bass pedals have built in sound. Whatever you do, you need to put the synth through an amp or no sound! (My amp is out of the shot in the video...)

  • Isn't that a 4001 in Montezuma Brown finish?

    Looks killer with black pickguard!

  • It's a '76 4001 in Autumnglo (though it might be Walnut) - Montezuma Brown is more recent, but very similar. My first ever Rickenbacker, I love this bass.

  • Great to see a Moog in use! Taurus & a Rick...who could ask for more?? Very cool.

  • Thanks GH! I like your band's myspace page by the way!

  • I planned to buy the Moog Taurus Software, and then buy a Roland pk-5....Cause now I used Eko bass pedals...but it.s not really poly-usefull....It's not MIDY...so ...Do u think my idea is worthed ???

  • Great job guys, love the vibe. To answer BASSPOPS question, the Roland PK-5 street price is around $500.00. It's just a midi controler, makes no sound by itself. You need to midi it to a synth (Moog Little Phatty in this video). I use a FATAR set of midi pedals midi'ed to a Roland JV-1010 with a Vintage Synth expansion card. It has a dead on Moog Taurus patch and a lot of other great bass and low string sounds that work well for pedal bass.

  • How much does the PK-5 sell for? Very interested in one.

  • what Ive been lookin for!

  • Cool! my kind of jam! Drummer needs a few more drums in my opinion but its not a knock on his style at all. Nice Ric and PK-5s btw!

  • very nice! :D

  • And even if it was a Taurus, it could always be the single user defined sound. He's got a classic "user defined" Taurus sound. My salute to him for putting it together with a PK5 and a Little Phatty.

  • Nice guys!!! Love the sound.
