even i know chamdo is not in amdo but somebody mentioned chamdo-amdo so i thought there might be another chamdo in amdo.. tibetan govt's power was limited to chamdo n not beyond that before 1949. chamdo is main town of tue khampa's right?

I think he was just trying to rhyme amdo chamdo, but he is from Chamdo, which is a province of it own, very separate from tue kham, which actually now falls under sichuan.

I think the song refers to the old capital city of Kham which was Chamdo. At its epitome, it was the center for business and was considered an influential capital of Kham (at least before we lost our country in '59) Beautiful song btw

these people here pretend to be clever and smart as if they know exactly how Tibet is formed geographically. The truth is Amdo is a county in Chamdo Prefecture and this Amdo in this song does not refer to Amdo as province..that's all if you wanna know..

chamdo is a province in Kham Tibet. Its one of the few khampa province that is still in the so called Autonomous region, most of kham now fall in the Sichuan provience. So to answer your question amdo and chamdo are not the same.
