Fingerlakes MoveOn.org Council "Tax Day Make Them Pay" Demonstration held outside of the Bank of America branch on The Ithaca Commons in Ithaca, NY on April 18th, 2011. We rallied to protest the fact that Bank of America does not pay any taxes on their earnings and therefore putting the burden of our national deficit on the backs of the middle and lower income taxpayers. The burden comes in the form of lower wages, longer working hours, and cuts to necessary programs and organizations. Now that the US is in a budget crisis, it is only fair that corporations such as Bank of America start to pay their fair share. At this demonstration we presented a bill to Bank of America demanding that they pay $3.95 BILLION in taxes that they owe us from between 2006 and 2010. These are taxes they wee able to avoid paying through all the tax loop-holes that currently exist.
WHERE'S YOUR BAILOUT!!!???
Great video, it sucks that Bank of America has not paid any federal income taxes in 2 years at least, and yet has made billions in profits. Under U.S. law, Bank of America has been able to save on taxes by keeping profits made in foreign operations invested abroad. In its annual report, the bank said it had $17.9 billion in earnings parked overseas at the end of 2010. Returning that amount to the U.S. would have incurred $2.6 billion in taxes, the report said. Call your Senators!!!
