3rd time lucky with this one uploading right!

This was the 2nd Zierer Starshape and opened at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, England in 2004.

The ride was claimed to have cost £2,000,000 - quite how it costs over £500,000 more than High Energy and gets less extras on it is beyond me but anyway.

One thing I never realised until I watched a few videos on youtube last night was how slow the Blackpool machine is. Starshapes don't spin that fast like a topscan anyway but this one barely moves!

This video was orginally on Amusement Rides 2 which was released in the summer of 2004. At the time the smoke machine really off set the strobes fantastic but having not been to Blackpool since 2006 I get the impression they don't have the smoke machine or strobes on it anymore?

There are currently 2 Stareshapes built by Zierer - the first travelling in Germany by Kaisers since 2003. It is a very expensive ride to buy and also very big which maybe why many were not built. Rumors suggest a 3rd version is being built at Zierer for delivery later this year but we will wait and see if that happens.

  • @rachieboox3 I have just been to Blackpool Pleasure Beach today and the Bling was there, although apparently it was closed due to maintenance, although I agree with you, seeing how hard it is to maintain it, I wouldn' t be surprised if they stopped operating it.
