DrBuzzo, Has not seen the Roy Process and he is wrong by saying the Roy Process uses 'gamma rays'. It does not use Neutron rays or proton rays either. It will transmute plutonium 239 from atom bomb warheads to non-radioactive lead, other isotopes like 'depleted uranium' before it is exploded, produce electricity, create many jobs worldwide, and guarantee international security.

What he is talking about is using high energy gamma rays to dislodge neutrons. It's a well known effect which is fundamental to nuclear chemistry. You can do this if the binding energy is exceeded. It requires a lot of energy but it may be possible to recover that energy through the decay process.

At the moment, processing and transmutation is a political problem, not a scientific one.
