Delhi is producing more than 6000 tonnes of solid waste per day.not more than 55% is collected.there is now no space left to dump it. As cities become bigger and urbanisation happens people would have to take ownership of their solid waste as government neither has the means nor the creative spectrum to manage solid waste. world over it has been seen that solid waste is best managed at the source i.e. the household level. the indian municipalities still want to manage solid waste at destination.result,a major part of the waste is lying around.it is then either burnt or put in sewage drains polluting rivers.municipalities on their part keep spending money and the result is not as expected. meanwhile educated people go about their business as though they are not a part of the solution.
