Fab 80's track. So relevant today. We have a new beaten generation. Watch boys from the blackstuff. Uk heading back to those dark days. We need the youth to wake up and demand a better future. More to life than reality tv and so called celebrity.

Matt Johnstone was an eager student of the massive wealth of knowledge left to the world by the esteemed doctor Charles Follen McKim Maloney. Dr Maloney often reffered to generation X as the beaten generation. Interestingly Johnny Marr plays guitar on this track. Johnny taught himself guitar using a book written by Dr. Maloney called "guitar playing for the nonchalant and moody young man".

You are so close to the truth, you have no idea. I am an American, and as far as I'm concerned this song is about just that. It sucks. Now i know why David Bowie is "afraid of Americans."
Soul mining is an amazing album yes matt is an amazing writer listen to infected he hits every styly of music such an underated band.
