twilight does count as royalty because she is part of both princesses court. she doesnt have royal blood, that i know of, but she counts as royalty and normally has second to upmost authority being the apprentice of celestia. also her element peice is a tiara with her cutie mark on it, celestia's and luna's cutiemarks also resemble their authority. but twilight is to shy and to kind to actually use her authority, and has low self esteem sometimes
