After creating the videos on Religion I realized I left out this key issue about the cause/result of life; Fate/Karma/Eternal Judgment vs. Free will/Eternal Result and while fatigued tried to examine it in both FACT and religions of East/West of course.

  • Karma is explicitly NOT THE SAME AS FATE

I am tired of people hijacking the term to mean some sort of unfaltering mysterious moral force that punishes every bad action and rewards every other.

    Sogyal Rinpoche says:

"Karma, then, is not fatalistic or predetermined. Karma means our ability to create and to change. It is creative because we can determine how and why we act. We can change."

If you kill people, people will get upset and you probably won't like the result. That's karma. Cause&effect.

  • it depends. some people have total free will. if your born healthy into a rich home with good parents and look fit etc. sky is the limit. if your born short where your mom dies during labor and dad (and your home) crushed by trees from a major quake, paralyzing you (And damaging your brain), your life is an unfortunate FATE. and some people are in the middle with some fate and some free will. unless your an atheist or dont trust me, ALL major bona fide religions share these same core truths...

  • (continued @shpongledmonk) people are born into those types of situation based on actions from their last life or this life. yes, its cause and effect. pain and pleasure work like this. steal booze, drink up, but in the morning that pleasure will be a painful hangover no matter if you believe in karma or newtons laws etc.

  • How about the untouchables, more commonly known as the delits? Disgusting religion. And christianity does not preach reincarnation although its a dumb religion as well. Religion is for people who don't want to put more thought into things. Keeps them from realizing that when life ends, its over. So suck it up and stop believing fairy tales to make yourself feel better about it.

  • i avoid reading hateful sounding comments but i noticed a valid mistake u made that needed confronting. There is no such thing as a caste system, with or without outcastes, in Hinduism. And there has never been any such caste system in Hinduism. Varna vyavastha literally means the class system. Regarding this it says that its wrong for people to be caste into a class by birth. Krishna says, "The four fold varna has been created by Me according to the differentiation of guna (qualities)."

  • everybody chooses to believe in freewill, there is no choice to believe in fate.

    choice is a freewill decision.

  • not sure if i get what your sayin. not everybody chooses to believe in free will; the examples i gave would not lead people to believe in free will, like when your hit by some random and violent tornado. people who have a mostly free life with little fate interventions can remain ignorant about fate until it hits them hard, so some people choose not to believe in it. either way is beside the point; sometimes we choose things other times fate overrides our free will.

  • @shpongledmonk What you describe as karma, is what I call consequences

  • Your life is 90% your choice 10% other peoples choices

  • its a paradox. u must choose to believe in freewill. how can u choose to believe in fate. by choosing to believe in fate is freewill. so basically if u are for fate, then your decision wasn't by choice but by destiny. works the same visa versa. wat i dont get is how in the bible god says he gives us freewill yet his master plan is fate? and y create me when he knows i will sin and go to hell?

  • ya. hope your telling him that, cause he could hear out what i said rather than pretend my words are worse than they really are. please refrain from personal attacks and cussing for nothing btw.
