Way to take one for the team :S

Good players don't get caught off guard on a play like that. I don't play defense, though, but I play centre and oftentimes am in front of the net. So I suppose your argument can be valid in the defensive zone. In the offensive zone, I can predict my teammate's tendencies to duck my head. Suppose it depends on the situation. Cheers.

Yeah sure you do, but you could still get caught off guard, and once you do, you're gonna regret it ;)

You see the wind up do you not? You do see the play developing and the shooting lane opening, no? What about the defenseman, instead of passing, side stepping into the lane?
I know I do and I've never had a problem looking down. When it's second nature I've never found it to be an issue.

The point is, if the puck is going 100 miles per hour, and you're standing 5 meters away, you have about 1/9th of a second to duck, so what I'm trying to say is; you don't have time to duck. If the puck is heading for your face, it's going to hit your face.

Yea pretty much, or duck your head. Still hurts to get it off the top of the melon, but keeping your face square and getting hit in the teeth or eye or nose is far worse. Just look down lol and the long brim of the helmet will protect 95% of your face.

Yeah. When a puck is flying at you in 100 mph, DUCK
-
All you have to do is duck your head and if it hits you in the head it bounces off your helmet. You don't need a visor to block shots.
How long have you been blocking shots, exactly?

When it hits the nuts, it knocks the wind out of you. I really think the worst is when you get in the head of the snitzel. Holy cow, you feel it for days.
