3/8/2008 Charleston, WV Interstate 64 Bridge Ice Road Car Crashes

Stock video archive footage of numerous accidents and spin outs on an icy Interstate 64 bridge are caught on camera. Watch for the car that spins out and is then hit by a second car unable to stop in time.

Several other cars spin out dangerously close to tractor-trailers. Others cars strike the jersey barrier and do complete 360 spins while smashing into the side of the bridge.

Lots of close calls round out this intense and dramatic sequence.

Footage includes ground-level aftermath and fire/police/EMS response shots at the end of the video.

1:48 no one uses the hazrd lights, why does nearly nobody uses the hazard lights in such a situation to warn other traffic? i see that very often in the usa

See, put a big fire truck in the way. It's one of the smartest ideas I've seen. That's not sarcasm, see if a vehicle comes along too fast and can't stop, it hits a several ton fire truck.

I really hate this bridge and the sets if ramps on each end.The exit and entry ramps on both sides of the bridge are poorly designed and there is little room to merge or exit. And too many times, some idiot is in the right-hand lane and won't move over to make room for merging traffic. In fact the I64-US119 ramp as a whole is a complete mess and I'm extremely nervous every time I travel through it.
