Fashion Fringe 2006 winner Gavin Douglas was overwhelmed and overworked when, just five weeks ago, he was asked to design five costumes for London's Royal Opera, as well as his forthcoming womenswear collection. The Jette Parker Young Artists scheme allows up-and-coming singers to perform on stage and this year they'll be dressed from head to toe in Douglas' designs. "It's been a real challenge. These clothes don't just have to walk down a catwalk. The performers will actually be sitting at a piano or making sweeping arm movements, so I needed to allow for that in the cut and embellishments I chose," says Gavin.
