@biggamejames79 some guys figured out how to make money and in the process a lot people a getting very fit and healthy, don't hate on people paying for CrossFit just because you didn't think of it.
@ChetCampbell72 I agree, there is a lot of explosive movements done in an extraordinarily fatigued state, it's a safety issue. All crossfit is, is glorified circuit training, which has been around for decades. People pay $150 a month to do 15 minute workouts at a crossfit gym when they could've done the same workout at home for much cheaper.
i did this workout in 11 minutes with kip ups. shoulders were pretty much torn out of the socket. i have since deleted them from my routines because of its dangers and have abandoned cross fit from my routine because of the losses in physical abilities i was experiencing. if you want to do kip ups, more power to you, but be careful because they could potentially be dangerous.
Hm... so you're saying that the kipping pull up is used primarily a means to improve one's ability to run and jump over things? Or at least SHOULD be? As opposed to, say, performing them to improve the actually ability to do pull ups.
than strengthening a muscle in your legs that is used over 90% of the time you walk/run etc. What you might not know is Crossfit was created by people who were using this as a means to jump and hop over things, NOW THAT is different. But mainstream? This is an Ortho's wet dream because a ton of people are getting hurt doing it. You can do it, but people should know the reason why not to.
That means that the Kipping Pull-Up probably didn't help the straight one at all, you don't become better at straight lines by curving it, that creates drag and slows you down.
The momentum is where? Not in the Back or the Elbows it's in the Hip Flexors. The Rec-Fem is the primary muscle group that pulls the hips forward because of overusage. Ofcourse you can pull harder, you are using THAT muscle group mainly. Straight lines in this case put the weight on the elbows, a much more needed area
Obviously, increasing weight WILL bring your heart rate up, but still, using heavy weights is primarily a stimulus for maximal strength, NOT metabolic conditioning, which, by the looks of it, is one of the objectives for this workout.
Kipping pull ups actually helped me get better at performing strict pull ups, without the need to lean back.
Efficieny is defined as the ability to accomplish a job with minimum expenditure of time and effort. That being said, I beg to differ about the "straight line" point. It can likewise be said that kipping makes pull ups more efficient, due to the momentum being generated, allowing for more pull ups in less time. More work/less time = efficiency doesnt it?Your thoughts?
I think what he's trying to say is that kipping is method for increasing your power output for pull ups. in a workout like this which heavily stresses metabolic conditioning, the goal is more oriented toward power endurance rather than strength. since power is one's rate of force production, being able to do MORE pull ups due to kipping increases your power output. i like to alternate a lot between doing strict pull ups and kipping pull ups depending on my workout objective.
