furthermore you have said you are free lounging, there is a rope attached to your horses head!! I'm sorry if Ihave upset you however what yousay you are doing and what youare doing in the video do not match up, Ihope you further your education in these methods as they are an excellent way of etblishing clear comunication with your horse

by free lounging i mean without the whip. if you are firmiliar with clicker training than you understand that in this video i am simply clicking and treating for the horse morving forward. my criteria was:

- horse moves away

- horse moves away and forward

- horse moves in circle

- horse moves in a bigger circle

the horse is clicked and treated for it chosing to move forward which is why it comes back to me for food (sorry no audio).

This video is just our beginning training!

I'm sorry but this seams silly, the horses circle lacked a crucial element The shape of a circle!! the horse was not moving well and due to the placement of the rope attached at times his neck vertibrae were twisting, even a young un-trained horse should be able to move freely on a circle or square shape without needing reassurance every 10 steps

this is the first video of me free luning Dakota- and if you knew anything about clicker training and the principles of learning theory you would know that the process of shaping relies on building upon a foundation to get a better behavior. Basically you take your goal and break it down. It is a humane and scientifically proven way to train as opposed to forcing a horse to unwillingly flee from a crop. Formation, different speeds, and placement would be all next stes to consider.

I know quite a bit about clicker training as well as various other methods, we run a facility that re-educates horses that are so badly mis-understood that they have been sent to dog food, we use very gentle methods (mostly Kel Jeffory and Andrew Mclean) really fearful horses are done with clicker training until they are happy to be handled directly it is magical to watch and nothing like what was in your video

you might want to see some of the other videos that have audio. i am executing the exercise correctly based on my criteria at the time. dakota had learned other behaviors as well, and i used clicker and systemtatic desensitization to get him used to trails and was able to help him conquer his fears after he was mistreated by a western reigning barn. it took a lot of work and he was also recommended to be processed as dog food.

I hope that you seek the assistance of a professional horse trainer. After watching your videos, it is obvious that you are new to horses. You are on the right track but you need to increase your skill level before attempting to educate a horse. It is far too easy to ruin a young horse. For instance, in this video you are teaching your horse improper body carriage. He is wrenching his neck and over time this will lead to physical pain.

There is such a huge misconception about whips in the horse world. People think they are being "nicer" by no using them. The whip need be used as a push to counter your lead rope being a pull. It should be thought of as an extension of your arm to show your horse what direction you want them to move in.

There are many ways to be successful training a horse, what ever tools you decide to use or not use, the only thing that matters is how well you communicate with your horse.

It seems everyone with a horse becomes an instant expert.

The idea of longeling a horse is to make him supple through the body. The way it is being done here will allow him to either turn his head out from the circle or swing his hindquarters away.
