  • when music was music, when bands could play instruments.... when tunes were good...

  • I own over 1,000 CD's and bought "Out of the Blue" when it was first released on vinyl. It has and will always be in my top 10. It's one of the few albums where every song is great.

  • ELO thank you for all your songs, my idols in High School and still I enjoy your music leaving a great flavor in my soul, wonderful music!!!

  • I had never heard of ELO when I went to see them in 1978 during their Out of the Blue tour. I bought the album soon after, and considered it to be one of the best in my collection. Now, 6000 albums later, I still consider it to be one of the best in my collection. Saw them a few more times, and managed to get their autographs, and a drumstick. Traced them backwards and found The Move and Idle Race which are interesting, but ELO was the pinochle, and Out of the Blue their crowning achievement.

  • @Gentilseulement SOOO Right... I prefer Kelly in everything....

  • This one and Wild West Hero were two of the best and most unheralded songs written by Jeff Lynne, in my opinion. He had the magic touch, an incredible songwriter. He did all the parts when recording then put the band together to perform all his parts live! Amazing...

  • @kjdhunter You're right. It's much like Rubber Soul or Revolver. No one else will ever be as good as this(Well, they might. But I doubt it).

  • You are all bleeding right, it's one of the best pop songs ever and probably the best ELO song of all times !! I wish that time had stood still since that days...

  • For my money, this is one of the best songs ever written.

  • One of my top 5 ELO songs. The lyrics paint a wonderful picture in my head

  • @kjdhunter That's hilarious. I am 21 years old, and found this album in my dad's collection when I was 15. I have recently got back into it. And all this time, I thought that 'Out of the Blue' must have been an early greatest hits collection because it is so damn good. Wikipedia just told me otherwise. My respect for this band has gone up sevenfold.

  • Great production, harmonies from the genius of Jeff Lynne. An underrated musician of exceptional talent!
