She called me. If it werent for some scribbles on a note pad on the fridge, and some major prying from Frankie, I would have never believed that Brianna Montez actually called me. And Frankie even said that she wanted me to call her back.

But that was before everything that had happened last night. When I told her to be real, I could see the fear in her eyes. I wonder what she is afraid of. Could keeping that perfect image really matter that much to her? All I know is that there is more to her then her looks. Man, shes like a mystery and all I can think about is solving it.

I wasnt joking when I said we were similar. This connection between us isnt going away. If anything, it is getting stronger. But now, Im just sitting on my couch, staring at her number in my phone, wanting to call her just to hear her voice.

But Joe interrupts me, barging into my house and saying, -Come on. Were getting a game together. Come play.-

Our neighborhood has weekly soccer games, where we all get to escape gang life and act like normal teenagers. When I was young, the gang offered me a family, security and protection. Sounded perfect for a kid who just lost his father. But now I wish I could take back the life I chose.

But I cant. So I just block out the bad stuff, the beatings, the drug deals, the shootings. People dont understand our way of life. Its all about survival. To be honest, I block it out because it scares the hell out of me. Im supposed to be the tough guy who doesnt care, but I do.

But soccer is a good escape for me. I imagine if I can get the ball past the other players and into the net, Id be free from this life. Id live a life where I was the kind of guy good enough for Brianna. But its just wishful thinking. I score but Im still here, Nick Jonas, Bloods gang member.

My gang senses kick into gear as we see a unknown black escalade creep up on the park we are playing at. It stops along with every player on the field. We mentally prepare ourselves for a possible attack, but what I wasnt prepared for was for Frankie to step out of the car.

I run over to him. -What are you doing?- I say as he climbs out of the car that Hector is driving. The last thing I want is for Frankie to start hanging around Hector. I know Hector wants to recruit him into the gang. Ive worked to damn hard to keep him out of it.

-Nothing. I just ran into Hector and he offered to give me a ride home.- Frankie defends, even though I can tell he is hiding something. My eyes narrow. I swear Ill kick his ass from here to China if he even thinks about joining the Bloods.

-Jonas, you still in?- someone from the field yells at me.

I mask my anger and say, -Frankie, go home. Well talk about this later.-

I get back to the soccer game but I cant think clearly. Frankie with Hector combined with the fact that I cant get Brianna out of my head is driving me crazy. So I take my anger out on the game. But the next thing I know, Im shoving a member from the other team, threatening to fight him.

Joe pulls me away, -Nick, cool down man.- he says pushing my off the felid, -Youve totally lost it. Brianna has you all messed up. You need to go home and chill out-

Man, what would I do without my best friend? But I cant go home and face the fear of talking to Frankie about the gang. Instead, I storm off the field and dial Brianna's number.

-Hello?- She answers.

-Its Nick. Meet me at the library now.- I demand.

-Uh no, I cant.-

-Heres the deal Brianna, you either meet me at the library in ten minutes or Im camping out in your front lawn tonight, get it?- I say acting like the regular old jerk Nick.

I slam my phone shut, hanging up on her as soon as she starts to argue. Im sick of it being the Brianna Montez show. Its now the Nick Jonas show.

As I hop in my motorcycle, I realize I dont have a game plan. Oh boy, Im thinking that the Nick Jonas show may end up being a comedy, or maybe a tragedy. Either way, itll be a show not worth missing.
