@Deadzo First of all what do you mean when you say "opposing magnetic fields coiled around the metal"? I think you should reconsider that statement. And I disagree with Ambrellinduction. You would get neither the levitation or the melt. The magnetic fields in the video are alternating. If you place a copper sphere into a steady magnetic field (like the situation you suggest), it would just drop through it.

How is this different from two opposing magnets pushing against each other?
If you had opposing magnetic fields coiled around the metal it would "levitate" too right? Without the heat.

Yes you are correct. We would be able to levitate but no heat would be produced. You would get the levitation without the melt!
