On January 30, 2009, Andrew Watkins climbed a tree at Orpheus Park in Encinitas, CA in hopes of keeping it from being cut down. 10 other trees were cut down in the park that day, but his tree would remain standing as long as he stayed in it. With the help of some friends, he built a tree house where people of all ages could come and take turns protesting to save the tree. A few condominium owners wanted the trees cut down so that they could preserve their ocean view. I spent February 1, 2009 up in the Tipuana tipu tree with Jru to enjoy the view from above. Please support the unnecessary cutting down of trees by contacting the Encinitas city council at http://www.ci.encinitas.ca.us/ to voice your opinion. Keep up the fight Jru!!!
