Rising and expanding flooding on places around Jutujak Market. Bang Sue canal is still rising, still more turbulent. The water front is now a bit past Kumpangphet intersection (or the SE corner of JJ Market). A ride along the BTS from Saphan Kwai and back shows flooding in the JJ Park and most side streets all the way to Mo Chit BTS station. Tomorrow I anticipate the water front to reach the intersection of Pradipat and Phaholyothin. Water behind the front will continue to rise. The water seems to max out on very, very rough average at about 80 cms.
It seems to have slowed and at this rate of advancement, I'm guessing it's still 3+ days from Victory Monument.

  • Tks for sharing. Was told that Chatuchak was not flooded 2 wks ago but your vid confirmed my fear! Guess it's quite recent! Sad.

  • @zhenzx Yes, in fact I took a video of the very first trickle of water that started down the street in front of JJ Park. The next day they pumped it dry, but the day following they lost the battle and it flooded in the area.

It is very sad, but it is amazing to see the army, common people and the police pulling together to make things survivable.

  • thanks for the update

we have family at Bang Sue and we are tracking the water to see if they are ok

they tell us that the flood will arrive Taopoon some time this week

we will be back in BKK in december so hope all this flooding had gone

  • @mcycleserv You're welcome. I go check it to assure myself that our measures will be adequate. Since the news focuses on the worst areas it is easy to over-react, so I try to show a more realistic view of what's going on. I think (hope) it will prove to be a great inconvenience with high property damage, and barring disease outbreaks, probably not a high injury or mortality event. Most of us here just want to get on with it, start the cleanup and get back to our real lives.
