The Asian American Journalists Association Minnesota Chapter conducted a Media Access Workshop on September 16, 2009 at Rondo Library in St. Paul.
The event was designed for Asian American community groups to help them learn how to pitch stories and issues from editors and reporters of various news organizations. It was an opportunity to network with people who can influence public opinion in Minnesota.
The forum was emceed by Tom Lee, a staff writer with the Minneapolis Star Tribune and Nancy Ngo, a staff writer with the St. Paul Pioneer Press. The panel included (in order from left in the video)Duchesne Drew, Managing Editor, The Star Tribune in Minneapolis; Phil Pina, North Suburbs Editor, St. Paul Pioneer Press; Susanna Song, General Assignment Reporter, KSTP, Channel 5; and Tom LaVenture, News and Managing Editor, Asian American Press. The refreshments were provided by Saigon Restaurant in St. Paul.
