Big Thanks larkinam!!

Huqin is both a specific member of and a generic term for the family of bowed Chinese lutes. The erhu is the best known, along with the jinghu, the gaohu, zhonghu, etc. I was told they were developed from Central Asian instruments like the morin khur.
The most unique feature is the bow between the 2 strings, no fingerboard, and the sound of the tight python skin - except for ones with a wooden soundboard like the banhu and the yehu.

really nice!

whats the diff between this and the huqin?
what other similar instruments are there?

This is the instrument used to create the beautiful music on the science fiction program, "Earth: Final Conflict".

Our basic model erhu, ideal for beginners. Note the bow goes between the strings, no fingerboard, and the important tone filter behind the bridge.
