Hideously repulsive ann coulter, one of the most disgusting and offensive religious Kooks alive, gets its ass handed to it by myriad humans, including the affable and bright Elizabeth Edwards, wife of former Presidential candidate John Edwards. coulter exhibits his usual hideous composition and grotesque manner as he tries to gain ground, but is pulverized by reality and facts.

@trickledown0 I think you are wrong about the data not being related to income or neighborhood. Lower income people are often crowded into low income housing generally in low income neighborhoods and that is statistically where there is more crime. Though race might not have much to do with the data, I think it does show that the population of these neighborhoods include minorities. Certainly there are many low income white neighborhoods that are also crime ridden.

@mccainisthroughX Again, I wasn't defending Coulter, only the basis for which she was attacked. Basically she laid out a case which merited real discussion, and got noting but Ad Hominem back from the cast of The View.

I think she has a few blind spots, and makes unwarranted leaps from time to time, but Rachel Maddow is Brilliant, and she just sparkles with some kind of fun life force....

@trickledown0 Sorry I'm not sure which of my comments you are referring to but reading yours I wonder what you would have the single mother do? I certainly don't know the exact statistics but think I read recently that the divorce rate is nearing 50%.

It's possible that a lot of single mothers are unfortunate enough to live in high crime areas where violence might be the reason she is single in the first place. I respect any single mother who can beat the odds.

Ideology has no part in the discussions. We know the stats on the crimes. We know the vast cost of the crimes in heartbreak, and in money for the legal system and incarceration (rehabilitation services provided by private business which owns state politicans), and in fear and prejudice the crimes create.  I say it would be cheap to give these boys some extra support, private and public.

It may be that in order to become thoughtful young men boys simply must have men in their lives to serve as role models and guides. It is no slam on mothers - who may be selfless in their devotion to their children - to note that cannot really serve in that capacity. If boys really need a living model to pattern on, then we need to figure out how to provide good models for them...

@kamuelapaul Always is a very long time, and "totally" is a bit rigid. Maybe it would be better to try to Understand why sons of singles mothers commit crimes at a rate so much higher than in two-parent families.

My point was that in the case of crimes rates for sons of single-mothers, ideology has blinded The View. I'mI think Coulter is a nut, but her stats were solid on this one (even if her conclusions were not), and she did not deserve the attacks she got on that basis. Basically, the conversation really never got off the ground.

@mccainisthroughX I couldn't agree with you more. I'd be an atheist if I could prove god doesn't exist, but I can't. So I'm an agnostic highly secptical that there is any universal intelligence, and would hate God if he does exist, because he would have to have pathological lack of empathy, to allow the torture and rape and murder that humanity has suffered these 100,000 years, or so...
