The dance company Tchétché was created in 1997 in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, and is known for its contemporary, youthful approach to African dance. With a commitment to explore and expand upon the roots of African performing arts, Tchétché is one of the most energetic and ambitious dance companies in West Africa. Tchétché served as African Artists in Residence for the UF Center for World Arts in 2002.

  • I regretfully have learned that Beatrice Kombe, director of the ensemble, passed away earlier this year. You can, however, see more of Tchétché in the film "Movement (R)evolution Africa" about contemporary African choreographers by Joan Frosch, co-director of University of Florida's Center for World Arts.

  • what!! i can't belive it. i was just thinking about her. i had the wonderful opportunity of dancing with her at New World School of the Arts. She choreographed and wonderful dance on me. she will be greatly missed!
