My baby was healthy until I caught a common virus called CMV (cytomegalovirus). My baby developed hydrops as a result of the infection and suffered heart failure at 17 weeks. Labor was induced at 18 weeks. Visit stopcmv.com for more infomation about the virus.

  • I'm sorry for your loss, unfortunately I know your pain I lost my daughter from Hydrops she died 10 minutes after birth(her slide show is on here also) I was 26 weeks pregnant. It has now been 4 years since she passed and I have had two healthy babies since, and now I'm 27 weeks pregnant again. I will keep your family in our prayers, thank you for sharing your Angel with us!

  • I am so sorry for your loss, I seen where you commented on my video in Cafemom. I will keep you in my prayers, God Bless. Our baby boys will always be with us.

  • I'm not a mother, but I had got CMV Virus in college after being previously healthy. It was a like a lesser case of mono, that lasted 9 months. Then after a 4 month break, I had a relapse for 4 months. I seemingly recovered, but was never quite the same. For the last 9 years, I've suffered all sorts of physical problems, ranging from IBS, neck pain, back pain, hip pain, lightheadedness, dry eyes, headaches..now I believe I have CMV enduced fibromyalgia. I am so sorry for your loss.

  • hi.. your baby is ok??? so sorry.. i hope you have well

    sorry for my english

  • So sorry for your loss, i hate that babies are being hurt and even die from something that could easily be mentioned within pre-natal visits to prevent it happening... My son was lucky, he was born at 34wks by emergency c-section and is almost 16 months old now. He only has hearing loss to both ears.

  • Just want to clear up, Cytomegalovirus is a VIRUS and NOT a disease. My son was born at 34wks and has hearing loss to both ears due to Congenital CMV.

  • I had CMV during pregnancy. My son is now 16, healthy, developmentally delayed, autistic, and visually impaired. He is smart, verbal, and lucky as hell to be that way.

Your video made me cry. I am so glad you posted it. I've never met anyone else whose child had CMV. I am going to the website you mentioned. Lisa G in Newfoundland, Canada

  • My god I am so sorry for your loss. I caught the flu at 31 weeks and was put in the hospital. After a few days I was supposed to be induced but was sent home by incompetent doctors. I went to my 33 week appt. and they said that they baby had full hydrops and they had to take him immediately. I was lucky. My son is now 6 weeks old and has been home for 3 of those. I lost my first son last year at 19 weeks gestation. 4 days after his angelversary his little brother was born because of this disease
