Climb Against Coal

On July 16th, 2010, a group of moms and community members from Vashon Island will summit Mt. Rainier to draw attention to the TransAlta coal plant in Centralia, Washington. TransAlta is the biggest polluter in Washington State, spewing 10 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere, as well as mercury and haze pollution. We call on Governor Gregoire to close the plant as soon as possible - 2025 is too long to wait.
