Mia, Max and Matty rushed into their transport crates to be moved down to their new area. Keepers and interns spent countless hours building the 9,000 square foot wild space which includes a roof, tether toys, three-tier platform, two large caves, a hill and access to three rooms in the cougar building.
As excited as the three cougars were, they were a little nervous about the huge space. Matty was the first to explore and learned she was a better stalker in the new habitat. Max chirped to Matty in order to receive assurance to leave his room. Soon Mia was out with them as well. They look so small in the large new space. It is just wonderful. Mia has claimed one of the caves as her own, but still also wants to share the perch. Matty enjoys her own room for dinner where she doesn't have to fend off the others. Max has become so vocal now since he needs to call to his girls as soon as they are out of site.
We are so thrilled to make another dream come true for such special cats. Thank you to everyone who has donated to Cougar Cove. The building and the 1st habitat are complete. Our goal is to continue to work on two more during the fall and winter for Donoma, Raja and Liberty.
