Ta lendab lillest lillesse,
ja lendab mesipuu poole;
ja tõuseb kõuepilv ülesse -
ta lendab mesipuu poole.

Ja langevad teele tuhanded;
veel koju jõuavad tuhanded
ja viivad vaeva ja hoole
ja lendavad mesipuu poole!

Hing, oh hing, sa raskel a'al -
kuis õhkad isamaa poole;
kas kodu sa, kas võõral maal -
kuis ihkad isamaa poole!

Ja puhugu vastu sul' surmatuul
ja lennaku vastu sul' surmakuul:
sa unustad surma ja hoole
ning tõttad isamaa poole!

Hing, oh hing, sa raskel a'al -
kuis õhkad isamaa poole;
kas kodu sa, kas võõral maal -
kuis ihkad isamaa poole!
Kuis ihkad isamaa poole!

  • @loni360 Fuck off, you bastard!

  • Following is a free translation of J.Liiv's "Ta lendab mesipuu poole", "The honeybee flies homeward". Liiv was writing prophetically, decades before my small nation's tragic involvement with the Wehrmacht in the events of 1941-1944 (referred to here in some of Piirikaitse's video images), and its suppression by Stalin in the years both preceding and following the Wehrmacht operations, and its restoration in a sequence of creative pacifistic mass actions culminating in August of 1991.

  • Ta lendab lillest lillesse,

    Ja lendab mesipuu poole;

    Ja tõuseb kõuepilv ülesse -

    Ta lendab mesipuu poole.

    From flower to flower it flies,

    And it flies to its hive, homeward;

    And should the thunderhead rise,

    Still it flies to its hive, homeward.

  • Ja langevad teele tuhanded;

    Veel koju jõuavad tuhanded

    Ja viivad vaeva ja hoole

    Ja lendavad mesipuu poole!

    And on their way they fall in their thousands,

    And yet they reach home in their thousands,

    Carrying their struggle and toil,

    They fly to their hive, homeward.

  • Hing, oh hing, sa raskel a'al -

    Kuis õhkad isamaa poole;

    Kas kodu sa, kas võõral maal -

    Kuis ihkad isamaa poole!

    Soul, o soul, in a harsh time,

    How you yearn for your own land;

    Be you at home, be you abroad,

    How you yearn for your own land!

  • Ja puhugu vastu sul' surmatuul

    Ja lennaku vastu sul' surmakuul:

    Sa unustad surma ja hoole

    Ning tõttad isamaa poole!

    And though death-wind assail you,

    Though death-bullet meet you,

    Forgetful of death, forgetful of toil,

    You haste to your own land!

  • Hing, oh hing, sa raskel a'al -

    Kuis õhkad isamaa poole;

    Kas kodu sa, kas võõral maal -

    Kuis ihkad isamaa poole!

    Kuis ihkad isamaa poole!

    Soul, o soul, in a harsh time,

    How you yearn for your own land;

    Be you at home, be you abroad,

    How you yearn for your own land!

    How you yearn for your own land!

  • Well...I am simply speechless!
