@cupcakesita1 well that depends on how far along you are in your healing. If you just got pierced, (under 6-8 weeks) then you need to stick to stainless steel or titanium. After 6-8 weeks of having the piercing, you should switch to acrylic so the metal will not damage your teeth. I am still using titanium, I have one more week to go until I can switch to acrylic, it helps to not get an infection.

@cupcakesita1 You can soak them in aq cup of non alcoholic mouthwash for 10 minutes. I soak mine in Crest Pro Health.

its been a week and 3 days since i got mine, my tongue barely swelled up.. maybe because i took 600mg of ibuprofen every morning .. but to make a long story short, next week thursday will make 2weeks and im going out sat. night , can i change from the longer barbell to a shorter acrylic one ? im getting really tired of this gigantic thing flapping around in my mouth

@brikeababy101 You can change it out after a week if you are not swollen anymore, however, it is best not to change to acrylic until you are fully healed. Like 6-8 weeks.

they can harbor bacteria and cause an infection.

If you change it, stick with metal.

I like them i have the metal ball ones with the jewel on them but one day i was at school and i was eating lunch and it came undone and i swallowed it it sucked!

am i able to change my tongue ring to just acrylic balls and keep the metal bar within the 2-6 weeks of heeling? or do i have to keep with the metal balls all the way through?

Plastic ones unscrew easily,, be careful not to swallow it :)
