China Boy Peplowski Ken 1993

In 1936 Benny Goodman recorded China Boy with his newly formed trio with pianist Teddy Wilson and drummer Gene Krupa. Of course, 25 year old Benny, probably the best in the world, had no problem playing it at a metronome tempo of 144 . Here in 1993, some 57 years later, there is this Ken Peplowsky.
- The late Mel Torme´said, "Since the advent of Benny Goodman, there have been too few clarinetists to fill the void that Goodman left. Ken Peplowski is most certainly one of those few. The man is magic. "The New York Times pronounced a concert of Ken's "Goodman Straight Up, With A Twist Of Lightning. -
During a concert with the New York All Stars Ken plays China Boy with Mark Shane on piano at a metronome speed of 155. Just unbelievable.
