I just got 2 Fancy Rats Today :)

[Cheese - Black Eyed, White and Brown colored Rat]

[Cracker - Red Eyed, White and Beige colored Rat]

Currently they are still adapting to their new home, They will not come out of there little hut unless I am not in the room (peeking behind the door)

They are doing good so far! BTW, when do you think they usually start to trust you?

@CHEESEandCRACKERrats: It's different for all rats, but if they are still really young it shouldn't take long. It won't be instant, but they will gradually warm up to you. Just keep trying to hand feed them. I've found this to be the best way as well as trying to hold them. Also, if you can, allow them to run around on your bed or somewhere where they might be able to get used to your smell, but not run off.

Make sure you get at least 2. Rats are very social animals and need each other, especially for cuddling :).

I've had my rats for 2-3 weeks now, bought them from a breeder at 8 weeks old. They still haven't warmed up to me, will just about nibble my fingers and take food from my hand and thats it. :(

i also have rats at home my first two needed different long to trust my, Tara needed about 3 days and then she came out of her cage and sat on my shoulders and Rocky needed about a month. Now Tara died and we got two young rats to play with Rocky, she is so lovely to them she cares much for them a bit like a mother. Sahra needed about a day to get used to humans and Sina is very shy, whe have them now for a month but she doesnt trust us.

my rats used to love corn on the cob.. whenever wed eat it wed put the leftover cobs in their cage... good times... was a while ago =\ lol.

I really want rats :)

For my hamtser I accidently bought a rat cage..

and I noticed that when I saw the things were a little to big, like the wheel.. and she started to get little marks on her feet.. thankfully now she has a new cage :)

anyways.. It's a bit small.. but will be fine for as they are babies right? it's two stories and kinda wide. :D
