How? The tune isn't terrible...it's actually better than most so-called "hip-hop" tunes in 2009. IMO, auto-tune and corny ass southern rap killed hip-hop...not all southern rap is bad though. The biggest problem with hip-hop today is lack of originality...everyone is doing the same shit.

I don't think there's ONE song that "killed" hip-hop...it was a movement..."Laffy Taffy", "A Bay Bay", etc. IMO, hip-hop began to die slow a few years before "Crank That". Now I listen to mostly 90s hip-hop, because most of the new shit is wack.

Ah lie!! I didn't even realize that the MIMS on this toon was the same MIMS. I never overstood why yankee cats would come to Canada to get on the rap scene (Frank n dank, Cipher, MIMS etc.) & all Canadian cats r trying to blow down where they @.

Probably because there's too much competition in American cities, and they likely have a better chance of blowing in Canada. Or it could be because they want to expand their fanbase before they blow up.
