Learn about our prison and reentry Programs
LIFE (Lifelong Information for Entrepreneurs) is a 32-week class started in 2007 with Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, Oregon's women's prison, to prepare women inmates (and by extended benefit their children) for successful reintroduction into their families, society and, should they choose, starting and succeeding in small business.
Reentry Transition Center MCNW manages and staffs a Reentry Transition Center to assist all ex-offenders with assistance navigating the services they need to effectively reengage in society.
ROAR (Reentry Organizations and Resources) is a coalition of reentry organizations MCNW helped convene to facilitate reentry coordination amongst some fifty service providers in Multnomah County.
ReFrame ReEntry is a photovoice project for women who have graduated from LIFE class and have left incarceration. By giving the women cameras and journals to document their transitions, the photovoice project educates the public of personal journeys of transition and reentry post incarceration. "When we think of borders we picture edges, margins, dividing lines between countries," said Julie Resnick, an intercultural consultant who, along with photographer and media consultant Joni Kabana, conceived the ReFrame ReEntry project with Mercy Corps Northwest. "What if one of those countries was a prison? What is it like to cross that border back into the community; from the inside to the outside?
