  • can i plant them in the sumer time my buddy told its a fall plant

  • @3timescrazy1 when you spread the seeds on the soil and water them then you can cover them up ,then place the container in warm but shaded area (do not place the container under sun light as this will boil the seed, you will not believe how hot it get if you try it) after 3/7 days the seed will germinate , remove the cover because if you don't mold will most likely will grow on seedlings, this will not harm the seedlings for the first 1/2 days after that the seeds will rot and die

  • Maybe this is a dumb question but I've never tried to garden before. If plant these onion seeds in the earthbox when do I put that black cover on the box. It would have to be after the plants started cominp up right?

  • @zaaz369, I believe you would get them from the blooms they grow but you also would have to follow the proper process in getting the seeds. Then you'd have to dry them out properly, then store them properly. IMHO, I think it's just easier (& less time consuming) to buy the plants in seed form that you ask about because they are inexpensive at Walmart, grocery stores etc.

  • everyone knows how to plant seeds, and if you don't then just read the packet it will tell you everything you need to know. But, where do those seeds come from. I mean what part of the onion, better yet, what part of the lettuce, kale, carrots, leek, ect, do they come from. wouldn't it be cheaper to get the seeds from the plant itself and from a packet?

  • u know how the wind can pick up seeds and they land in ur garden well that happen to me i didnt know wat a onion sprouting look like so i pulled it out and it was an onion

  • I like to plant mine in rows or cells. If I sprinkle them randomly they seem to bunch up in some areas and then are too sparse in others.

What is a real challenge is that saved onion seeds on last about 2 years max even with proper storage. The only way to save them longer is to thoroughly dry them and then freeze them.
