@daheilong I record these at 2:30-3:00 AM. Jump cuts aren't the end of the world.

c'mon carter, you can do better than this. Look at all these jump cuts. I rehearse before going for presentations.

@CritiCarter No problem, since so many actors in the movie are Scandinavian I see how one would think the director is too.:-)

The name of the director is Dutch, not Scandinavian!

@fleischwolferl I'll do the researche better next time. Considering the subject matter of the film, it's a mistake anyone could have made.

FYI The first version was made in 1951, and was, itself, based on a 1938 short story.

@BrandonShw As I said, this is a prequel to the 1982 film, NOT the inferior 1951 version, so I didn't feel a need to mention the older incarnations.

@CritiCarter Sure. Everything that happened before I was born is inconsequential. Did you watch the 1951 movie all the way through, because it was a pretty good movie? Next you'll be saying that the original author, John W. Campbell Jr, made an inconsequential contribution to the story. Do you know who Campbell was or the magnitude of his contribution to SF? I don't mean to sidetrack your review, but Carpenter was building on the work of other people, even if he did a fine job.

@BrandonShw Hyperbole much?
For the last time: the 2011 film is a prequel to the 1982 film. I did not need to see the 1951 version or read the story to properly evaluate the 2011 film. Obviously the author deserves some credit, because the three films wouldn't exist without his original creation, but it's off my radar as far as the latest incarnation is concerned.
