@choijai18 I didn't realize there were Chinese in SF that spoke teochew. My mum is teochew (by way of Singapore) and raised me without the dialect, growing up just outside of SF. Now I live in SF and whenever she comes to visit she practices her Cantonese buying produce in Chinatown. You must tell me where you here / see teochew so I can tell my mum, she would be so excited. The only time she practices is videochatting with family or when we visit SG.

Hoa see teochew nang, and the our most famous line... "ga gee nang"!! There's actually a lot of people that speak it in SF. I could speak it well when I was younger but as I grew older I only use Cantonese and English. I can understand but can't really speak it anymore. I wish there is somewhere Ithat teach our language!

i'm lucky to know Teochew, mum and dad, both families fled from Cambodia to Vietnam during the Civil War.
