These REAL LIFE jet packs are way cool! Just as cool at the fictional Boba Fett jet pack (Mitrinomon Z-6 Rocket Pack) that lead me to this video..... btw Boba Fett only got one minute of continuous flying and looking @ the comment below mine: in real life we now have a 9 minute flyer. Amazing!

Yes, there have been jet packs since the '60's.

Nope. As I said earlier, there is a small tank of Hydrazine (the little cylinder in the center) and Hydrogen Peroxide (at high concentration in 2 larger tanks). When the two chemicals react, the Hydrazine combusts with no need for an igniter (thus, Hypergollic), the oxygen comes from the Hydrogen Peroxide and the water component of this (Hydrogen Peroxide is H2O2 - water with an extra oxygen atom) provides steam for thrust.

There are two folks who have successfully integrated mini and micro turbine jet engines into actual working prototypes (See channels by gasturbine101 and artnfplg). I don't have any info on gasturbine101s rig, but artnfplgs rig generates 1800lbs thrust (in theory) and a flight duration of upwards of 20 minutes.
