Anne-Marie Duff as Queen Elizabeth I. This is my favourite film about the life of my favourite and extraordinary queen of England whose knowledge, wit and aptness for her role as monarch seemed to know no bounds.

This is probably the only film that captures Elizabeth I as Gloriana, virgin-goddess, Muse and queen in one.

  • I was astonished when I heard that Anne-Marie Duff had been cast as Elizabeth as I only know her from SHAMELESS (in which she was great) and I was amazed by her

performance in this brilliant drama. Tom Hardy was at his best too. The acting, the

writing, the music, costumes were flawless. The only bad thing about it were the teeteeth which were rotten, black, disgusting and, no doubt, totally true to life!!!!!

  • @footballslappedGirl

Actually, yes. He was Maria Stuart´s son. And Stuart was her cousin...so.....

  • @legnanellaf

No, in fact she was Margaret's granddaughter:

Mary was born on December 8, 1542 at Linlithgow Palace, Linlithgow, Scotland to King James V(son of Margaret) of Scotland and his French wife, Mary of Guise.(Wikipedia)

  • I, personally, would actually rank her fourth after Glenda Jackson, Cate Blanchett and Helen Mirren in terms of quality of characterization. But what I've seen of this film is decent.

  • Mary Queen of Scots had as much of a claim on the crown as Elizabeth did. And since she was a catholic, many wanted her to overtake the queen. She was Margaret's daughter, not granddaughter, and Margaret was the sister of Henry the 8th.

She claimed to die a virgin, but we dont really know if she really did.

  • King James was Mary Queen of Scot Son.. Mary Queen of Scots was the granddaughter of one of Henry the VIII's sisters, whom married into the Scottish Royalty. I beleive he was a distand cousin? anyone correct me if I am wrong?!... I hope that helps!

  • Actually, the "dude" from Scotland (James VI) WAS related to her -- he was Mary Stuart's son.

Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, was after all Margaret Tudor's granddaughter and thus Henry the 7th's great-granddaughter. This made her Elizabeth's cousin (albeit once removed, if that is the correct term).

  • she died a virgin and the dude from Scotland who reigned after her is not in anyway related to her

can someone update me or send me a family tree or the bloodline of the present royals?^_^i don't want to read i want to go out with my friends!but i have to finish schoolwork about the Windsors!!!!!!!

    T_T
