Hunter Original 52" oil bath ceiling fan in brown/polished brass. This is supposedly one of the early 3 speed/electrically reversible ones. The blade arms are totally out of whack after being at the place it was, thus it wobbles horrendously. There is red and some green paint all over the fan, and the canopy is totally red.

  • what year is it from?

  • I want to say it was 1986 but I can't be sure. I need to make a new vid of this one with the replacement horseshoe style arms I got. Nice and wobble free now...

  • @mpsslovak what does the hunter tag say the year is?

  • Originals, at least most of the American made ones as far as I'm aware, do not have a date stamped on them anywhere other than the tag on the side. Some have the year itself stamped, others (like this one) you need to use the serial number and a date code to figure out, which I don't have memorized or on hand. I'm still pretty sure it was 1986, one of the earliest electrically reversible models.

  • It could also be installed with 5 blades right?I found 1 with 5 blades in a hardware store and costs over $500

  • Those are the later ones, this one is 4 blade only, one of the last 4 blade only ones actually I think before they went to 4/5.

  • Awesome start-up noise at 1:30!

  • Those are truly awesome fans! Built to last. I had one in my parents' house. In brass with "schoolhouse" globe light kit. I remember installing it. Perfectly balanced right out of the box.

  • @mpsslovak thank you the original is tops on my want list for awile and i want to maintain it properly i plan to film my fans when i get a camera i had one but the audio sucks on it and i broke it so i need to get a better one

  • You use 1oz. of oil per oiling, and I recommend Zoom Spout Oiler if you don't know what to use. You should check the oil at least yearly with a bent pipe cleaner dipped in the top of the switch housing, but as long as the pipe cleaner comes out with oil on it you're good to go. When it's dry, it's time for another oz. of oil. I've heard oil lasts from 1 to 3 or more years, depending on use of the fan.
