XDE is a good player. I have this player and I watch most DVDs at 720p. Yeah, it is not HD like my Blu-ray or HD DVD player, but its still nice. The XDE upconverts DVDs better than my Blu-ray player and HD DVD player. For the price (it's like $60 to $65 right now) it is worth it. Picture quality depends on the DVD that you are watching. Newer DVDs will look better than old ones. Remastered DVDs look especially great on XDE. Slight digital noise with some DVDs.
I've realised over the past couple of years that Americans are the most sceptical when it comes to upscaling. Then I realised it wasn't just Americans....but all people living in NTSC regions. Of course...480i/p is some way off 576i/p.
I have excellent scalers in my equipment. From that in my TV, to the one in my upscaling DVD player, to the one in my PS3, which isn't too shabby either after firmware updates. My PAL 720x576 DVD's looks great. NTSC....well, you can't scrub a turd can you?
This is so funny. I wonder if sony knew about this all along and came up with blu ray discs as an excuse to help sell the PS3. Granted blu ray does have a great amount of storage. Even though most studios will just abuse this format like they did with dvd.

I own a Blu-Ray Player but I do not want to use it as my DVD player as well, is this Toshiba XDE Player a good UpScaler and is it worth the money.
