Please help us, the crew of the Delta Queen, save both our jobs and a national treasure!
The Delta Queen is the last traditional steamboat carrying overnight passengers on our inland waterways, an example of a time when the rivers were our highways. Her wooden superstructure requires an exemption from the Safety at Sea Act to operate past this October.
Please, help us convincing the US Congress to act in favor of the Delta Queen, to save this unique piece of American history, fur us and the generations to come!

  • @Shenandoah58: I think there is a good chance to get things moving again, but not with this Government. Vote Republican and we'll get our beloved Delta Queen back (at least there will be a much better chance for this).

  • they had no right taking the delta queen out of service,,shes a Historcal ship,,served proudly in ww2,she does pass all the safty requirments,,I think the congressman should retire after all hes old too but hes still up and running why dont the congress man retire,,NOT THE DELTA QUEEN,,the belle of louisvillie is older than delta queen, she was built in 1914 also served in ww2,but why is she still allowed to run,,and not the delta queen, why are they picking on the delta queen, when the belle runs

  • @Dolphindream15 Well, the difference between the DQ and the Belle is that the Belle is not an overnight passenger vessel. The Delta Queen is still allowed to run as an excursion vessel like the Belle But to be honest, that's not an option for me as they'd have to take out all the staterooms and modify the boat in a way that she won't be the same boat after that. Also, she's probably just too big to be operated profitably as a day excursion vessel. It's too sad.

  • I live in Minnesota, and I can tell that for years Oberstar has been abusing his power in schemes like this. He is the lowest of the low, a puppet for the union boss'es who care not lick about the workers. They only care about increasing their own power.

The Delta Queen is just one of thousands of businesses that have been destroyed by them.

  • Our Gov't SUCKS! Total morons,

see all

  • Were the union workers fired and replaced with lower paid non union workers and that is why the boat was taken out of service?

  • I want to see the queen steaming. She is of immense importance to our history.

  • The Koch brothers have enough money to buy the Delta Queen many times over, can they help??

  • @steamboatsorg Wow the republicans really helped.

  • This video makes the erroneous assumption that the hijacked U.S.

    gov't gives a rat's *ss about JOBS.

What this is doing is DESTROYING AMERICA'S HERITAGE &

CULTURE to make young people more susceptible to the idea of

    ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT.

Most of what we knew of as the "United States" is only a memory.

Either Americans WAKE UP and GET CRACKING or

    WE LOSE IT ALL.

  • @baritonebynight not sure whether I see the same new you do when search for "delta queen sold", but this seams to be a very old rumor. The actual status is that all assets of the parent company, Ambassadors International, have been sold to a company of Philip Anschutz, including the DQ. No indication so far that they're planning to sell the DQ to Australia.

  • @baritonebynight Where did you hear this? To my knowledge there are no such plans. The Delta Queen is being mainained very well at her current location at Chattanooga, TN, where she's in service as a floating hotel. Her engines are in place and in operational conditions. I personally find it extremely unlikely that the engines will be yanked out and/or she'll go to Australia. This won't make any sense to me at all for many reasons.
