@tom1980uk TOTP was actually pretty good at having non-pop acts on, I remember seeing Marilyn Manson, The Offspring and even Hundred Reasons on! Saying that, they're all definitely the commercial side of 'alternative' music (and yes, I hate that term too!).

Brilliant camera-work.

In terms of charisma and performance Mike Patton is, especially during this period of FNM, legendary. We are briefly in the presence of greatness. How can anyone be that cool. See also his performances on The Word.

I remember this. They appeared on the show twice. They enjoyed it so much the first time that they gladly accepted the re-invite. I'm guessing this was a typically Mike Patton-esque joke where they not only got to contrast with a schedule of really crap UK pop bands, but the entire band except him were forced to mime. If ever there was an opportunity where Faith No More could be allowed to do what they've always done & not take anything even remotely seriously, it was on Top of the Pops.

@DeadPixel2009 You serious? That is sad. But then again, I'm a teen and most teens these days listen to the crap music thats thrown at us on the radio.
why does it sound like it's just Mike singing over the studio version?

@cheezbetweentheknees Because it is. Bands weren't allowed to play their instruments live on Top of the Pops. At least he sang. Most artists mimed.

@DeadPixel2009 I could never understand that either. They were popular everywhere else. In my school they were the number one band. If you didn't listen to Faith No More then you didn't know shit.
