Connor eventually settled in Glencoe, Scotland where he married Heather MacDonald (Beatie Edney), his first wife and received training as a blacksmith from her father. In 1541 he was located by a much older immortal who introduced himself as Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez (Sean Connery). Ramirez soon appointed himself Connor's tutor in the situation of being immortal, their pursuit of the Prize and the rules of this age-long "Game". He also explained that his own Spanish name was just his current alias. He adopted it while serving as Chief Metallurgist for Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor (also King of Spain between 1516-1556). He was originally Egyptian and his sword was a katana he received in Japan by his father-in-law Masamune. Masamune was the father of Princess Shakiko, Ramirez's third wife, and supposedly a genius ahead of his time in the forging of swords. It should be perhaps noted that the novelization of this film gives Ramirez's original name as Tak-Ne, his birth in 896 BC, his first "death" in 851 BC and his marriage to Shakiko in 593 BC.

Connor's training under Ramirez lasted for about a year.

  • Sean Connery looks and sounds like Sheogorath.

  • Ramirez was trained by Chuck Norris.

  • How the hell did Ramirez get his 2500 year old one of a kind katan back from the river??

  • @SecretYoungLink007 He looks like cervantez from soul blade too!

  • The Kurgan disliked this.

  • @indrajeet Personally I thought that the peacock feather cape was too much.

  • @georgekostaras He is dressed like a spaniard of the time.

  • Have you noticed on this version, Ramirez's line: "McCleod... this... is... The Quickening!" from just before they jump off the cliff, has been been cut. That bugs me.

  • @1527cool It's The Highlander Theme composed by Michael Kamen (sadly no longer with us, God rest his soul). The track is available on both "Michael Kamen's Opus" album (I think only on CD), and the original scores album which is available on iTunes but I think it's listed as the Final Dimension. If you go for the latter, it's track one. On the Kamen album it is just the training track isolated though.

    It's beautiful music isn't it? :)

  • What is the soundtrack at around 5:20?
