@merciasound how log should you take to make scones... no more than 2 minutes with the dough ( or it will look like the above, over-kneaded) and 10-12 minutes in oven ony to get a very scarce browning at the little tips this dough will have.

@merciasound you are RIGHT, our family recipe, that is more than a hundred years old never, ever had cream, and you mght have forgotten to say that you have to thoroughly mix dry ingredients, and never knead this kind of dough once you added liquids, only keeping it together with our fingers, the final result will be a grainy, kind of sandy crumb where you can distinguish butter, salt and sugar, crowned by the stong flavor of toasted beaten egg.

@chell4x4 that's a rather broad statement about Americans. We don't ALL put sugar in everything, you know.

@merciasound that´s right...and you can add some vanilla extract and squeeze a little bit of lemon ;) ... hmmm
(but how can I see, so many recipes of scones exist, so do not be afraid try or just watch this video ;) )

epic fail!! they are not scones you crazy bat, they are awful messy rock cakes!
and you do need to slightly knead the dough to get a smooth dough, and you dont use sugar either its just you fucking americans that put sugar into everything,

If the beautiful goddess says they are scones, well by God, - they're scones! And quite lovely scones at that.
In reality, these scones aren't really much different than biscuits from the Southern U.S. My grandmother made biscuits pretty much the same way.

No NO NO! These aren't scones! Flour, a little butter, a little sugar, milk, pinch of salt dried fruit if you like but not cream EVER - only ever after they're cooked!!

@merciasound Sweetie, these are truly scones as I know them to be. And they came from an English Tea Room cook book.
But I do remember my sister in law using a recipe that didn't have cream in it ~ so I suppose, to each her own, right?
