Katunayake International Airport authorities have rejected allegations that the two Thermal Scanning Machines at the Airport to detect Swine Flu cases are defunct.
Airport Management Chief H.S. Hettiarachchi said they have heeded the recommendations of the W.H.O. Various rumours are being spread on this matter. He stressed that two scanners had been installed at the Airport to identify positive cases. The scanners are in working condition since its installation.
Chief Medical Officer of the Airport Dr. Gamini Jayasekera said the Scanner screens all passengers arriving from the countries where the disease is prevalent. The scanner records the body temperature. The Health Ministry has deployed 40 Public Health Inspectors and eight Doctors for this purpose.
