My tandem owning friend Winston Elston became such a good tandem captain that I could safely retrieve my Sony Handycam, take video, and put the Handycam away while riding. I couldn't resist getting this view while riding with a group of tandem riders in south Georgia. We were riding a Santana tandem, which had the necessary strength and torsional rigidity to withstand the moves I needed to make to retrieve and then store the Handycam in a rear pannier (saddlebag). This was taken with a Sony CCDV3, which pre-dated the "Steadyshot" feature. So I'm sorry it's shaky. Remember, this was 1988. Just having a video camera that would fit easily in a bike bag was like a miracle.
The Southern Tandem Rally has been held somewhere in the southeastern USA every year since 1979, This event gives participants a way to enjoy great fellowship and fun rides with others who ride tandem bicycles. Sometimes a parent will ride a tandem with a child while the other parent rides nearby on a single bike. However it's done, it's a great way to learn a new area of the southland each year, and to make new tandem riding friends.
