Hercules did well probably because he's a very famous mythical person and that alone attracted attention. Xena was a spin off of a character from the already popular hercules, but Roar didn't really have anything to attract viewers. Heath Ledger wasn't a well known name in America yet. The small number of fans who did love it just weren't enough to keep it going.

I just came across this show and it sounded alright. How in the hell were Hercules and Xena hits in the US but this lasted one season?
