In between "Make a Wish" and "Animls, Animals, Animals," there was also a variety show for kids called "Kids are People, Too," first hosted by Michael Young and then by Randy Hamilton. I believe ABC aired this show from 1975 until 1978 on their Sunday morning lineup.
Wish Disney (who now owns ABC) would get this show out of the vaults and put it on DVD (if not in season stes, then maybe as "best of" collections).
I enjoyed watching "Discovery," too (I was 8 years old in 1970), but found out later in 1970 the reruns of "The Flintstones" were being shown opposite "Discovery" on a local Detroit independent Sunday mornings at 11:30 A.M.
Shame I didn't stick with watching "Discovery" - where is it now?
I wonder why today's kids find old kids' shows like Discovery and The Electric Company boring. Is it because kids today are 'fed' drivel disguised as children's programming(at least here in the USA)?
It lasted until '71, when it was replaced by a "Word Definition" show called "Make A Wish" hosted by folk guitarist, Tom Chapin, until somewere in the mid-late 70's when THAT was replaced by a show on animals clled "Animals, Animals,, Animals" hoted by Barney Miller's Hal Linden, and lasted until roughly 1980.

I vaguely remember Discovery doing a show about how television shows are made..I could be wrong though.

Or was the host I'm thinking of Frank Buxton?

Actually, there are now other versions of the Discovery opening here on Tube.

To my recollection, Owen was a young guy with a JFK-like haircut, sort of resembled actor Vic Morrow (of "Combat" fame). Is that who you mean?

I remember Discovery '66 and '67. Didn't realize it was still on by 1970.
